35th Wedding Anniversary at Sts. Peter and Paul ECC+USA, August 12, 2007

Blessed be the kingdom of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and for ages unto ages. Amen

The grace and peace of God our Father, who exalted the marriage bond and made it the sign of Christ and his Church, be with you all. And with your Spirit.
We have come together to celebrate today the 35th anniversary of the marriage of
John and Jan. As we join them in their joy, we join them also in their gratitude. God has set them among us as a sign of his love and through the years they have remained faithful.

Let us give thanks for all the favors John and Jan have received during their married life. May God keep them in their love for each other, so that they may be ever more and more of one mind and one heart.

Renewal of Marriage Vows

My dear brother and sister in Christ. You have come here in this church today to renew your marriage vows made years ago. You come to ask the Lord to bless, renew, and strengthen your committed love in the presence of the Church’s minister and this community.
So, in the name of Christ and the Church, I ask you:

John, do you now renew your promise of 35 years ago to your wife, Jan, to be true to her in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love her and honor her all the days of your life?
I do.

Jan, do you now renew your promise to your husband, John, to be true to him in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health, to love him and honor him all the days of your life?
I do.

Blessing of Rings
Lord, bless and consecrate the love which John and Jan have for one another. May these rings be a symbol of their true faith in each other and always remind them of their love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. All. Amen.

Prayer of Blessing
Lord God and Creator, we bless and praise your name. In the beginning you made man and women, so that they might enter a communion of life and love. You likewise blessed the union of John ande Jan, so that they might reflect the union of Christ with his Church: look with kindness on them today. Amid the joys and struggles of their life you have preserved the union between them; increase your love in them, and strengthen their bond of peace so that surrounded by their children they may always rejoice in the gift of your blessing. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
